Houtbay Harbour

I had a mystical experience the other morning before I left Cape Town, and this poem is my best attempt at explaining it.

The wind is like the breath of God coming off the sea, as a welcoming whisper saying, “hello.” The local parish of birds are singing their daily liturgies, preaching the gospel and evangelizing to the mountain flowers. Faithfully and consistently the fish are praying and crying out to God, “Blessed are you, O Lord, God of our ancestors, we praise and highly exalt you forever!” The grass is dancing, the trees are rejoicing, and the rocks are meditating.

As the sun is setting, his sister the moon is rising, both in complete harmony.

It appears nature has no problem seeing there is a loving omnipresent God out there, yet humanity, which is made in the image of God, needs more proof. I think it is time we listened more closely to the creation around us. I believe if you do that, you will find God.
