School Of Biblical Studies

Hello everyone! Starting tomorrow, April 10th, at 8:30 am, I start the School of Biblical Studies. I graduate on March 30th, 2018. That is a complete year of studying The Bible. I am excited, nervous, and unsure about what I am getting myself into for the next year, but none the less am trusting The Lord to help me.

Specifically what this school looks like is spending 6 days a week studying each book of the bible. In total we will read the bible 5 times over, starting with Philemon and ending with Revelation. This year will be a time where I can focus on God and his word, grow and be challenged. I am excited to be here and to see how the Lord will continue to shape me. Our SBS is going to be a different then the standard SBS. We will have time during our studying of the books to do different forms of meditations on the scripture. We will be reading and studying out of the English Standard Version (ESV) translation of The Bible, besides for our out loud read which we will be using the Source View translation. The out loud is when in groups we will read all of the book we are studying from start to finish. For some books this will take twenty minutes, for other books this will take three hours. The Source View transition is a Bible that is written as if the words are a script for a play. This I believe will help us a students get our imagination going and help us put ourselves into the the stories we read and the lives of the people we read about.

the next largest difference for our SBS is at the end we will have a five week outreach, where the location and ministry is undetermined. Our desire for this outreach is simply to live and love like Jesus in whatever community we find ourselves.That could be teaching The Bible, serving in a soup kitchen, helping out with a orphanage, or being the guy who stands in front of three hundred kids teaching them songs. I guess you could say it will be whatever the will of the Lord is. I hope to go back to Asia for the outreach, where about I am not sure. As thing progress with my studies, I will keep sharing with you revelations, updates, and little nuggets from our Lord. You will be hearing from me soon, thank you for reading!
